{Letter #21} Come off Conqueror

Hello everyone!

Happy Monday Wednesday!

This past week was so good! Here are a couple highlights:

-dog!! A member asked us to walk her dog this week because her kids don't like to and of course we said yes! Best service ever....

-transfers. Hermana Brown and I are staying together in Park Ridge!! We were really surprised because she's been here for 3 transfers (4 1/2 months) already, which is kind of a lot in our mission. We're so excited though!! We're also going to be moving into our area AND getting a car. I'm going to miss our walks to church, but it's probably for the best that we'll get 1 1/2 hours back on Sundays :)

-lesson! One of our friends has been taught for quite a while. She told us that she wants her family more involved in learning about the gospel before she gets baptized. Yesterday we had a lesson with her, her 3 kids, and an awesome family from the ward! We taught them about the Restoration with a little object lesson and a bunch of pictures and it was so awesome! Our friend seemed so happy and of course that made US so happy :)

Spiritual thought:

I've been loving reading Doctrine and Covenants this year with Come Follow Me! If I'm being completely honest, I have not read D&C through before. And I really don't know that much about church history. After finishing "Saints, V1" and reading with CFM, I'm still nowhere near an expert, but I have been learning a lot!! If you're not doing CFM already, I highly recommend it!

Recently (I think it was the chapters for this past week) I was reading D&C 10:5 and one particular line really stuck out to me.

"Pray always, that you may come off conqueror; yea, that you may conquer Satan, and that you may escape the hands of the servants of Satan that do uphold his work."

I've always been a big reader. I LOVE a good fantasy book!! When I was reading this scripture, the line "come off conqueror" really caught my attention. Just like in a fantasy book when the good guys use their awesome skills to conquer the bad guys, we can too IN REAL LIFE!! As the world changes and Satan finds lots of new ways to attack, WE have an awesome skill that will ALWAYS work- prayer! Prayer is the way that we can connect with and draw from the power of our Father in Heaven to overcome temptation. He gives freely of his love and his light, we just have to kneel down and open our mouths. That's pretty cool!

I hope you have an amazing week!

Love you!!

-Hermana Goold

1. The dog!! Her name is Shyla :)
2. The beautiful Utah sky
3. Me and Hermana Brown excited for another transfer together!!
