{Letter #21} Come off Conqueror

Image
Hello everyone!  Happy Monday  Wednesday!  This past week was so good! Here are a couple highlights: - dog !! A member asked us to walk her dog this week because her kids don't like to and of course we said yes! Best service ever.... -transfers . Hermana Brown and I are staying together in Park Ridge!! We were really surprised because she's been here for 3 transfers (4 1/2 months) already, which is kind of a lot in our mission. We're so excited though!! We're also going to be moving into our area AND getting a car. I'm going to miss our walks to church, but it's probably for the best that we'll get 1 1/2 hours back on Sundays :) -lesson ! One of our friends has been taught for quite a while. She told us that she wants her family more involved in learning about the gospel before she gets baptized. Yesterday we had a lesson with her, her 3 kids, and an awesome family from the ward! We taught them about the Restoration with a little object lesson and a bunch of...

{Letter #15} Long Time, No See...

Image
Hello everybody!! I hope your past 3 weeks were fantastic! Despite my lack of emails, I am in fact still alive and doing well:) Here are some highlights: - transfers (2 weeks ago haha)! I am staying here in the Lehi ward and am in a trio again!! My companions are Hermana Krummenacher and Hermana Stone and it's been great!!  - this ward ! We technically have 8 full-time missionaries, then a couple sets of service missionaries, and then so many incredible member missionaries. It's been so cool to witness all the miracles that come along with that! -we were helping the companionship that lives with us make a video this week and they were like "I wish we had a chair to sit on" and our dear greenie Hermana Stone offered *jokingly* that someone could sit on her. She didn't think they actually would (see the attached picture).... it was sooo funny. - English classes . They're honestly super fun to teach and the days when we have them in person are sometimes the only...

{Letter #8} Snow and a Referral!

Image
Happy Monday friends!!! I hope you're all doing well! This week FLEW by for me. Here are some highlights: -It SNOWED!! IN SEPTEMBER. It's 90° again, but I appreciated it for the 30 seconds that it lasted. -We have a problem in this apartment. Do you want to know how many unfinished voicemails we left because we started laughing and couldn't pull it together?? It is a number greater than 2. Whoops... -A member of the Seventy, Walter F. Gonzalez, came and gave a zoom mission conference!! My companions and I also got to go to the mission office and have him sit in on one of our lessons. We were very humbled when we had to tell him that despite our >30 lessons a week, we have 0 people we're actually teaching. All our lessons are with members, people we're teaching English to who aren't really interested in the gospel, or people in other areas that we've had to pass off. We were feeling a little discouraged, but also determined to work harder and follow the ad...

{Letter #6} First Week!

Image
Hello friends!! I hope everyone's doing well! The past couple weeks have been very eventful! I had a few last calls with my mtc district (shoutout to all of them- they are seriously the best) then headed to Utah!! I've been here for a week now and I am so happy. Highlights: -my companions!! Every night we say 5 things we're grateful for and companions always come first:) Seriously though, Sister McKinlay and Sister Skinner are so awesome and I'm so glad I get to be with them. -English lessons!! It's one of the ways the missionaries here have been trying to reach out and find people and it's been super fun!! -One of the ladies we're teaching English to couldn't say the letter "L." We tried to tell her that it was the same as "el" in Spanish (she could say that) but every time she tried to say the alphabet it would be like "h, i, j, k, airkk..." Every single time. I had to duck out of the camera because I was not handling that...

{Update #5} She's Arrived!

Image
Hermana Goold didn't have time to write a letter this past week, so here I am to let you know that she has safely arrived to the Salt Lake City-West Mission!    She met her mission president and companions.     And even had time for a quick phone call on Google Hangouts, where she let us know that she's serving in Taylorsville.  I'm already a HUGE fan of the communication changes for missionaries!   Feel free to drop her a quick email or snail mail to say, "Hello," and wish her well on her first days in the field and especially with speaking Spanish! Thank you for love and support of Emma!    Love,  Emma's mom
