{Letter #18} 2021πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸ˜

Hey everyone!! Happy 2021!!!! This past year was absolutely crazy but I have high hopes for this one!

Highlights:
-I got transferred! I am in Kearns, actually living in the same place as my first transfer. My new companion is Hermana Brown!! We have a lot of things on the horizon for the next six weeks and I'm super pumped!!

-walking! So, the story is we do not have a car and there are too many goat heads (little spiky plants that pop our tires) to ride bikes, so we walk a lot! We have about a 1-1/2 hour walk to church every week. It's so fun though! And yes, you may be wondering why we have to walk that far to get to church in Utah. I could not tell you... we pass 7 other church buildings on the way hahaha

-Doctrine and Covenants!! Yeahhhhh!!! I just started it at the new year (probably like a lot of you) and it has been so good. Hermana Brown and I also made a goal to read the book, "Saints," this transfer! It is the first time I've read either of them, and I've been learning so much already!

Spiritual thought:
After Joseph lost the first 116 pages of the translated Book of Mormon he was feeling (understandably) discouraged and guilty. In D&C 3 we read what the Lord revealed to Joseph Smith after:

1 The works, and the designs, and the purposes of God cannot be frustrated, neither can they come to naught.
2 For God doth not walk in crooked paths, neither doth he turn to the right hand nor to the left, neither doth he vary from that which he hath said, therefore his paths are straight, and his course is one eternal round.
3 Remember, remember that it is not the work of God that is frustrated, but the work of men.

Whoa. Can you imagine how much of a relief that would be for Joseph to hear? The work of God can not be frustrated.

That's probably the biggest thing I learned in 2020! The Lord's plans were not frustrated by covid or anything else that happened. Only my own plans were! Being on a mission right now has made me realize that, despite the different ways of doing things, the work of the Lord definitely has not stopped or even been hindered. If anything, it's grown as we've had the opportunity to find new ways to share the gospel!

What was something you learned in 2020?

I hope you have a wonderful week!! Love you all!!

Love,
Hermana Goold
