{Letter #8} Snow and a Referral!

Happy Monday friends!!! I hope you're all doing well! This week FLEW by for me.

Here are some highlights:
-It SNOWED!! IN SEPTEMBER. It's 90° again, but I appreciated it for the 30 seconds that it lasted.

-We have a problem in this apartment. Do you want to know how many unfinished voicemails we left because we started laughing and couldn't pull it together?? It is a number greater than 2. Whoops...

-A member of the Seventy, Walter F. Gonzalez, came and gave a zoom mission conference!! My companions and I also got to go to the mission office and have him sit in on one of our lessons. We were very humbled when we had to tell him that despite our >30 lessons a week, we have 0 people we're actually teaching. All our lessons are with members, people we're teaching English to who aren't really interested in the gospel, or people in other areas that we've had to pass off. We were feeling a little discouraged, but also determined to work harder and follow the advice that Elder Gonzalez gave us in the conference. That same evening we got a referral (I'll call him R) from church headquarters!! What?! SUCH a miracle. We had a lesson with R and a couple from our ward about hope and peace through Jesus Christ and prayer. He seemed like he really appreciated our message and wanted to learn more and he also agreed to say the closing prayer!! It was awesome!

Spiritual thought:
As per tradition, I have to say: I love the Book of Mormon!! Why do I love the Book of Mormon so much? It's because of the peace I feel when I read it. Peace in questions, decisions, and hard times. That peace comes because the Book of Mormon is a testament of Jesus Christ. Everything in it reminds us that we have someone who knows and understands us and is guiding us. I know that Jesus Christ loves each of us individually. There are two incredible examples I want to share from the Book of Mormon.

First, in 3 Nephi 11 when Christ visits the people in America, a large multitude gathers. They had just been through A LOT and were pretty confused at what was going on. The first thing Jesus does after introducing himself is inviting them all to come and feel the prints in his sides and hands and feet and know that he is God. In v. 15 it says the multitude went "...forth one by one until they had all gone forth, and did see with their eyes and did feel with their hands, and did know of a surety and did bear record, that it was he, of whom it was written by the prophets, that should come."

The second scripture is in 2 Nephi 26:33: "...he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him..."

Jesus Christ cares about each one of us. Not only does He not deny those who come unto Him, He INVITES them. Just like he did in the Americas thousands of years ago, He invites us to come unto him. ALL of us. He wants YOU to come unto Him because He loves YOU and wants YOU to be happy. Christ is the the way to happiness!!

Well, as always, email me whenever!! I love hearing from you guys!! It keeps me going through the long days:) I love you all!! Have an amazing week!!
