{Letter #9} The Temple and Other Highlights

Hello friends!! I hope you are all having a great week!!

I've been here for almost a transfer (6 weeks) now and I'm kind of in shock...This week especially went by so fast.

Here are some highlights:
-singing! Last week we had church in person and they asked us to do a little musical number. We sang "Yo Siento Su Amor" (I Feel my Savior's Love). It was super fun!!
-first in person lesson (more on this later)!!

-the temple! In March, I had a plane ticket home from BYU and an appointment at the Philadelphia temple to go through with my parents. Then covid happened and the world shut down. This morning I had the opportunity to go through the Jordan River temple with my parents. It ended up being a huge blessing that I had the extra time to study and prepare more before I went. It was amazing.

Thought:
We had some recent changes to our covid rules, so we can go actually go visit people (with masks and social distancing of course). Our very first appointment was with a really nice couple who is interested in learning more about the Book of Mormon. We dropped off some copies to them with some scriptures marked last week and then this week taught them about it. At the end of our lesson, the wife told us how much our message meant to her and how it was an answer to her prayers. The Spirit was so strong.

In Mosiah, it mentions a couple of times being an "instrument in the hands of God." Sometimes I wonder why an inexperienced 19-year-old would be allowed to go out into the world to teach others about the gospel. It's because it's not me! I'm not the one doing the teaching. If I'm being completely honest, the lessons that the Spirit has been the strongest were the ones where I could barely form a coherent testimony in Spanish (yes, that still happens to me sometimes). It's because the spirit carries our messages and understanding to the hearts of people we teach, like this lady. We didn't say anything that was super amazing/out of the ordinary. We didn't extend a baptismal invitation. But the spirit has power. And I am so grateful for that.

Thank you all for your examples and support to me! I hope everyone has a beautiful day!!

Hermana Goold
