(Letter #2) Home MTC Continues

Hello everybody!!

I hope everyone's doing well!! This week has been a crazy one for me.

Highlights:
-The EFY and mutual music albums. I never thought I would actually listen to these, but after about two days of the same 10 "Sunday" songs, here we are, and I'm actually not mad about it.... they're growing on me.
-Sister Bludworth (my companion) is so awesome!! She always has such great ideas for our TRCs (practice lessons) and is super fun to talk to (sometimes we don't get anything done in companion study haha)! We may or may not be planning a trip already for when we get back from our missions (she likes to travel too):)
-This week I watched "Safety for the Soul" by Elder Holland AND "The Book of Mormon: Man-Made or God-Given" by Tad Callister and wow.... the Book of Mormon is awesome!!

Things I'm working on:
I don't know if this is how it is normally, but my district's first two weeks of classes were entirely in English. I learned SO MUCH cool stuff. Just as I felt like I was starting to get the hang of teaching and stuff though we started the Spanish portion. The next four weeks will be entirely (>90%) in Spanish!! AHhhh.... I am in WAY over my head right now. I started learning Spanish like a month before the MTC, so my vocabulary is very..... limited.

Something that inspired me this week:
I always hear inspiring mission language miracles and sometimes I wish I could just have that happen to me (after four days haha). Something we've talked a lot about in my classes is that the Lord loves effort. Yes, His love is unconditional. Yes, His grace is sufficient for all. BUT that doesn't mean we shouldn't do anything! When we act in faith (or even just the "desire" to have faith like in Alma 32:27), Christ magnifies our efforts and makes us better than we could be on our own. That's what's keeping me going right now. I am still very bad at speaking Spanish. I probably will be for a while. But I am going to keep working hard and I know that Christ will increase my efforts and someday I'll be able to understand what my teachers are saying and even be able to teach a lesson.

Well, I hope everyone has the best week ever!! You're all awesome!! Oh also, email me whenever {emma.goold@missionary.org}. I love hearing from you guys!!

Love,
Hermana Emma Goold  πŸ’“
