{Letter #28} 10 Minutes

Image
JUNE 28, 2021 Hey everyone!! I hope you're all doing well! A lot has happened in the past couple of weeks but here are some of the big highlights: -I got transferred! Back to my greenie area (the area I started in)! Except, now instead of just covering half the Spanish ward, we also cover the other 6 English wards in the stake. My companion and I both transferred into the area together (aka a whitewash) so it's been super crazy but sooo fun! -I gave my first talk in Spanish!! Due to some miscommunication, we ended up having 15 minutes before the meeting to prepare for the 10 minute talk 🤣 It was wild -biking!! Yes, I'm still in a biking area and lemme tell ya-for being in a valley our area is not very flat. As in our stake is literally a hill and we live at the bottom of it haha... Even though we kinda die a little bit every day, it's honestly so fun Spiritual thought: I was thinking a lot this week about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. We hear so often that we need to ...

{Letter #16} "We're All Clouds"

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope you all had a great week and are staying warm! Highlights: - Spanish . Yep. I'm not lying! For the first time in the five months I've been a missionary, I've been loving the Spanish!! It might be because I actually understand a passable amount of what people say (most of the time haha), but I am sooo grateful for the opportunity I have to be learning a language! - leaving messages ! Thanks to my companion for making me do them, I can officially get through them without any awkward pauses or laughing the whole time. Improvement!! -We had a few friends pick up this week who we haven't been able to talk to in a while and had some really good conversations (one from which the title of this email comes haha)... -my comps and I all got some Christmas decorations from our families so our apartment is looking so good!! We're also going to make gingerbread houses today and I'm super excited for that... - our little space heater ! The heat...

{Update #15-1/2} Some pictures and no letter

They've been having fun making decorations for the house... Emma informed us this week that apparently she receives more snail mail than any other person in the mission.  We were quite excited!   The little tree we sent her  and a homemade vase from Grandma Sandy.  A baptism!   Emma was asked to speak at this baptism.

{Letter #13} Your Weekly Food Log

Happy monday friends!! I hope everyone is doing well! Highlights: - people picking up !! We had a couple people who had been taught by missionaries in the past who said they wanted to talk to us again! It was exciting:) - birthday ! The mission decided to give us an all-day p-day for my birthday. Just kidding. But it was a really good day. We got a trick or treater!! And we actually had candy to give them (thanks mom)! I've never felt so cool haha - food hahaha. Because we are inside a lot and we can't eat with members right now, we have a lot of culinary creations going on. Everyone in our apartment takes turns making dinner and wow. Among others,, we had bomb fish tacos, a Dominican rice/sausage dish, and an insane veggie dish. We also got some sushi for a mid-week pick-me-up and Hermana Oldroyd made a very addictive pumpkin bread. It was a good week haha... - baptism ! It was a person that Hermana Long and Hermana Oldroyd taught a few months ago. I didn't even know him!...

{Letter #12} Paper Airplanes

Image
Happy monday everyone!! I hope you had a great week!! Highlights: -zone conference!! We had some really good trainings and I now have a long list of things to improve haha. The best part though was that I got to see my comps from last transfer!!! - paper airplanes. My companion randomly said on a call one day that we could teach kids how to make paper airplanes for an fhe activity. Except she told me right after that she didn't know how to make them. Luckily, after making (I'm not kidding) hundreds of paper airplanes when I nannied two little boys in high school, I consider myself a bit of an expert😉 We ended up teaching the family how to make them, relating it to the gospel, and it was honestly so fun. - snow in October. What more is there to say? Thought: I've been reading in the middle of Alma lately and I've been thinking a lot about <<JOY>> . In Alma 36, Alma is talking to his son Helaman. Amongst other things, he again shares the beautiful story ...

{Letter #11} Lord, I Believe ...and It's a Small World

Image
Hey friends! I hope you are all doing well!! If I'm being completely honest with you, not much happened this week but of course there were still some highlights: - new area . I'm starting to really love the people and the ward here. It has been such a blessing to be able to meet with people in person! - cookies !! My Mom's Aunt RaChel dropped off cookies for me at the mission office this week. They didn't know but it was actually my 3-month mark on the mission so it was kinda perfect and it made my day! :) -service ! Okay yes, I put this pretty much every week. Don't worry about it.... We got to do a service this week helping people in the community with their yards (weeding, moving boards covered in spiders, shoveling mulch, etc.) and it was so fun. - scriptures ! Also a weekly appearance in my highlights haha.... anyways, last transfer I started reading the New Testament along with the Book of Mormon and wow. It's hard to deny that these books contain the word...

Happy Monday everyone!! How are you all doing?? So yeah, the big news for this week is that I got transferred! I am in West Valley City now with Hermana Ellyana Long. The first few days were hard. Things are different here! But there were definitely highlights that made me happy🌈 -my new area is a biking area !!! It's been super fun and I've only had one mishap trying to bike in a skirt haha  😂 - general conference . When I take notes, I put stars next to the talks I want to go back to read in the next couple weeks. This past conference I marked over half of the talks because I was feeling so inspired. Everyone should go watch it if you haven't yet! Even if you just listen to a talk each morning as you're getting ready, it will make a difference in your day. Our leaders are inspired to say what WE need to hear. - spontaneous service . The other day we ran into a lady trying to move a bunch of boxes up to an apartment on the 3rd floor of our complex. We asked her if sh...
